“It is traditionally believed to be antibacterial, antifungal, carmative (muscle relaxing), sedative, anti-depressive, and effective for burns and insect bites” (Lavender, The Essential Oil?).
Lavender odorants have been reported as having anti-stress effects. A recent French study compared lavender with four other essential oils and found that lavender was the only oil to consistently elicit a feeling of ‘happiness’. When these factors are combined with massage, it also has benefits through touch.
