Tea Tree Oil is a well-known antimicrobial powerhouse derived from the plant Melaleuca alternifolia. Its ability to fight bacteria and fungi makes it an excellent addition to oral care products. Studies indicate that Tea Tree Oil can help reduce plaque formation and combat bad breath, making it a staple in natural mouthwashes and toothpaste. Studies compared mouthwashes containing Tea Tree Oil and chloride. The group using Tea Tree Oil documented similar results in controlling oral microbial growth but less side effects like dry mouth or tooth staining.
